A mistrial was declared today after a Frederick County jury failed to reach a verdict in the case against a 27-year-old Woodbine man on trial in the attempted murder of two men, including a Frederick police officer.

Charges against Charles F. Moore Jr. included attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and use of a handgun in a crime of violence. Jurors went home Friday evening without reaching a verdict after deliberating for six hours.

Frederick County Circuit Judge Julie Stevenson Solt told the panel of eight men and four women to return at 9 a.m. today to resume deliberations.
